Breakenback Action International Film Festival (BAIFF)
About:
BAIFF is Australia’s first and only short film festival dedicated to the extreme/stunt/action genre.
As the action genre often goes un-noticed or isn’t widely accepted by the Australian filmmaking industry, and rarely but more likely never gets funding by any of the film funding bodies, Breakenback Films have taken the initiative to bring a more youthful and exciting approach to movie making.
After releasing in 2007 the action comedy "Good Luck With That", probably the first Australian action film that boasts more stunts then “Mad Max” (and some might say the first action film in a decade from down under), in an attempt to spark interest from filmmaking youngsters and reignite the flame of the seasoned pros all over the country the Breakenback Action International Film Festival was launched.
The festival will provide a platform and create exposure for aspiring action moviemakers, stunt actors, stunt coordinators, action directors, pyros, SFX, and all people that make up the extreme/stunt/action genre, to showcase their talents and good work. It will encourage networking and further growth in this area that has been so successful everywhere in the world of filmmaking.
Selected Participants and their work shown on the festival will range from first time moviemakers to veterans of the game. Athletes, Extreme athletes, stunt performers, action guys or just your ordinary girl/guy doing extraordinary things. Just as long as they all fulfil one criteria, having fun with making action appear on the Big Screen!
